Nu-Style Invests in its Business and People with Launch of New Home Office Brand

There’s no denying that 2020 was a difficult year for all businesses across the UK. However, Aberdeen based, Nu-Style Products managed to successfully adapt, despite the Coronavirus pandemic, through continuous investment in its site and people, as well as responding to new opportunities with the launch of a new home office furniture brand, Buzz Home Office.

Currently more than half-way through its £1million investment, which will take place over 12 months, Nu-Style Products managed to invest £600,000 in 2020 with an office re-fit, new welfare facilities and an upgrade of its workshop. A new press was also installed which will substantially increase production capacity for its shower panel brand, Perform Panel, enabling it to develop the range and grow sales across its existing market in the UK and explore export opportunities. 2021 will also see further investment with the installation of a new saw along with additional upgrades to the site to further improve efficiency and the working environment.

As well as investing in its existing operations, Nu-Style Products also looked for new opportunities, including partnering with a local manufacturing company who specialised in sanitising products. Nu-Style Products used its expertise to diversify its product offering to manufacture metal sanitising stations for the company to distribute. As a result of this and its overall approach to returning to work after lockdown, it was shortlisted for the 2020 Scottish Go Awards for the ‘COVID-19 Outstanding Response’ Award.

However, 2020 was not without its challenges for Nu-Style Products. On one project, working with Kier Construction to supply and install materials for the upgrade of the two wards at Cornhill Hospital in Aberdeen, the team faced unprecedented challenges, from the tight restrictions in the hospital, to dealing with social distancing measures as well as supply chain issues. However, despite all of this and as a result of the extensive experience and hard work of the team, the project was completed safely and on time, with a further phase of work planned this year.

Looking ahead to 2021, one of the biggest opportunities for the business is the launch of its new home office furniture brand, Buzz Home Office. Developed in response to the dramatic increase in homeworking as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, Nu-Style Products will work alongside its sister companies, MGM Timber and Smith & Frater Ltd, to provide a range of expertly crafted, made-to-measure home office and study solutions. Ranging from the customisable pre-assembled ‘Office in a Box’, to fully bespoke homeworking solutions designed by expert consultants, Buzz Home Office will provide options for professionals and families alike who are adapting to this new normal.

The launch of this new brand not only demonstrates how Nu-Style Products has adapted its business to meet the new demand for homeworking solutions, but this new venture will also help to protect existing jobs in the company as well as create new ones, with four additional employees having already been employed last year.

The Managing Director of Nu-Style Products, Steve Galbraith, commented, “Last year was difficult for everyone, but as a company, we worked hard to ensure we were able to continue operating safely as well as investing in our business and looking for new opportunities to embrace the situation.”

He continued, “We have a lot in the pipeline for 2021 and we are particularly excited about our new venture with Buzz Home Office. We look forward to working with our customers and trade partners to provide a tailored, made-to-measure home office solution that will support the ‘new normal’ way of working.”
