Meet the Nu-Style Team – Nigel Tipper

Nigel Tipper

Our team are very important to us, hence why People is one of our core values. We have decided to start putting some personality behind our brand and give some insight into the diverse group of people that make up the Nu-Style team, starting with Nigel Tipper, Business Development Manager for our wet wall panel brand, Perform Panel.

Nigel has been in the decorative/ wet wall panels industry for over 25 years, he has a wealth of knowledge and experience and has always been in customer-facing roles. Nigel joined the team in April this year, and as he is relatively new to the team, we checked in with him to find out how he is settling into his role.

What do you do and what is life like at Nu-Style Products?

I am responsible for Business Development in England and Wales. This involves onboarding new distribution partners within the bathroom and plumbing merchant sector and targeting new customer accounts. I work to identify potential projects within the Social Housing, Leisure, Student accommodation sectors that our Perform Panel boards could be a perfect fit for.

I have great flexibility working for Nu-Style and thrive on the fact that I have a great team of people behind me to bounce ideas off and get support from when required.

Can you tell us what a typical workday looks like for you?

One of the main things that I enjoy about working for Nu-Style is that every day is different, and I don’t ever get bored. Most of the time my car is my mobile office in-between meetings and sales calls. Each day can vary from attending a couple of meetings in the morning or afternoon to calling into some sites or showrooms where I think there is potential for sales of our Perform Panel shower panels. Our customer base ranges from Managing Directors to showroom managers and meetings can include topics such as costs, décor ranges and upcoming projects. I also spend a significant amount of time pricing various projects that we have in the pipeline.

What are some of your biggest challenges?

As I’m sure most Sales/ Business Development Managers will agree, each day can be challenging in different ways when you work in this type of role. There are more and more competitors in our field, and we are relatively new to England and Wales, which sometimes works to our advantage and other times can prove to be a bit more of a challenge. I genuinely believe in the quality of the Perform Panel product, which helps make my job slightly easier. After all, if I don’t believe in the product I’m selling, how can I expect my customers to?

Of course, with challenge usually comes triumph and this has been the case recently as I have successfully on-boarded a new distributor in South Wales, Formula Bathrooms and also a new distributor who will geographically cover the areas between Birmingham to Cornwall and Wales.

What are some of your interests/hobbies when you are not working?

When I’m not at work, my favourite thing to do is go and watch my beloved team, Sheffield Wednesday FC. As a season ticket holder, I try not to miss any games as after a busy week at work, going to the match is a great way to catch up with friends. I also love to travel and visit family and friends across the world, particularly in Turkey and Australia.
