Merkinch Primary School
The Client: Robertson Construction
Robertson Construction are one of the largest family-owned construction, infrastructure and support services businesses in the UK. Together with their stakeholders’ they invest, develop, construct and maintain across the whole built environment in the UK.
Merkinch Primary School in Inverness has undergone renovation works carried out by Robertson Construction that included the addition of a new purpose-built extension, bigger than the full size of the existing school. We worked with our client to install new washroom facilities into the extension, as part of the school upgrade. We designed, manufactured and installed cubicles and integrated plumbing system (IPS) panels to all areas within the school extension.
Nu-Solitude cubicles were the main choice of cubicle installed throughout the school because of their full height toilet cubicle doors help ensure privacy is maintained within the washroom facilities. We also supplied our colourful Nu-Infantz cubicles for the nursery area. These are popular in nursery environments as the low level doors aid supervision for younger students.
Nu-Style’s Added Value:
The ironmongery used in the school washrooms had to be powder coated to a specific RAL number requested by our client to coordinate with the existing colour themes around the school. We would typically supply ironmongery as standard satin aluminium or stainless finish but were able to meet this requirement from the client as all cubicles are manufactured to the exact specifications, resulting in a bespoke product if required.
As a result of COVID-19 restrictions the timescale for this project was slightly longer than initially planned due to our client’s on-site safety measures and the UK wide lockdown. When our installers returned to site they had to adhere to strict physical distancing and ensure only one person was working in one area at any given time to ensure everyone was safe while on site.
